A Familiar Face Leading Human Resources

Amid the major senior leadership changes…

at the George Spady Society, it’s a pleasure to welcome back a familiar face: Rob LaFontaine. Rob first joined GSS in 2018 as Human Resources Manager and is stepping in as Director of Human Resources and Admin Operations.

Recently, Rob returned from a career adventure working with private industry in Ghana. He and his wife, Marie-Claude, had spent two years in Accra and, reflecting on their time abroad, Rob shared, "It was a life-changing experience and a unique opportunity to learn about Ghana's culture and rich history."

Before moving to Edmonton in 2018, Rob has been a long-term Peace River resident, and gained valuable experience from his work with industry. From a background in power engineering, Robert developed skills in management and human resources that he will draw on at GSS: working on the front lines, coordinating training, leading an operations group, and human resource management for 300 staff.

Rob’s background with GSS will help him quickly re-orient to the agency and allow Dawn-Marie Diab to work closely with Lorette Garrick over the next six months. Lorette’s mentoring support will help Dawn-Marie prepare to step into the very big Chief Executive Officer shoes that Lorette will step out of at year end.
