Guess….
Guess where the canora team is going…
Well, it turns out the team didn’t know where they were going and that’s the point. This was the Canora team’s first opportunity to have a team retreat and they proved their trust in each other by doing this blindfolded walk in the park. John Norton, Manager at Canora, sent a big thanks to the Holyrood team who stepped in to cover all the shifts so Canora staff could all get together for the first time as a full team since the site opened last fall.
Guess who aced the MC job at holyrood’s grand opening…
At the Holyrood grand opening, our very own – well, formerly, our very own – Jeff Walker did a stellar job introducing the event and then smoothly guiding the dignitaries through the program. This was a full circle experience because Jeff had been with GSS for over 7 years, managing the Balwin and then MSD programs, so it was special to have him involved in opening our newest Supportive Housing project celebrations. Jeff transitioned to Homeward Trust in 2023 where he serves as Senior Director, Programs.
Guess wHose artwork uplifts the new MSD aurora centre…
Yes, this is Lorette Garrick, our former CEO who led the George Spady Society through 27 years of growth, achievement, and service to the community. In addition to that visionary and leadership ability, Lorette is also a talented artist. That combination of vision and creativity is behind the uplifting image that will encourage clients through the years. To honor Lorette’s years of service she was asked to name the new Medically Supported Detox building and she chose the inspiring name, the Aurora Centre, because, as the accompanying plaque outlines, “The Aurora Centre is a place of healing and renewal. Its name reflects the northern lights—symbols of transition from darkness into light.”
