2017 Training Conference

Our second annual George Spady Society Training Conference was a winner!

Attendee Comment: “I absolutely loved this conference…”

November 15 was a cold day but the serene Providence Renewal Centre setting immediately warmed up our 97 attendees and provided an excellent setting for the high-quality sessions.

The keynote presentation by Dr. Carolyn Anderson on the courage of vulnerability was an ideal opener as attendees were front line workers from community agencies that served the most vulnerable in our society.

Breakout sessions in the morning offered learning about residential school survival, power and privilege, and LGBTQ experiences in our society.

In the afternoon, participants could enhance skills in personal wellness, motivational interviewing, and de-escalating violent situations.

Wrapping up all the rich learning and discussion was a very different final session. Imagine almost 100 drums beating in rich harmony for over an hour. One attendee comment captured it: “…sense of community and mental health during the Circles of Rhythm.” Below, Julian Lepage of Circles of Rhythm, directs the attendees in this powerful conference closing!

·       Our speakers who shared their expertise and experience so generously throughout the day.

·       The Providence Renewal Centre staff whose calm, friendly efficiency brought a special warmth to the experience.

·       The team from Buksa Strategic Conference Services whose professionalism and capability were a key part of event planning from start to finish.
